PTNNT hands over luxurious Mampis Rungan sports hall worth Rp9.5b |

Sumbawa Besar, Tambangnews.com – PTNNT handed over a luxurious “Mampis Rungan” sports hall worth Rp9.5 billion to the regency government of Sumbawa in Sumbawa Besar, Friday (20/5). Also, a language laboratory for SMAN 1 Sumbawa worth Rp599 million and a workshop for SMKN 2 Sumbawa worth Rp435 million were handed over at the same time.
Regent of Sumbawa Drs H Jamaluddin Malik said the construction of Mampis Rungan sports hall was one of the Sumbawa’s development need-based priorities. “We hope the infrastructures in Sumbawa will be on a par with other regions, including the sports facilities,” he said.
Upon handing over the facilities to Sumbawa Regent Drs. H. Jamaluddin Malik, PTNNT Senior Manager External Relations Arif Perdanakusumah expressed his excitement for completion of the projects. “Thanks God, this project was successfully completed on time. I hope the people of Sumbawa who have been longing for this sports hall can make use of the facility soon. The presence of an indoor sport facility is expected to advance sport achievements in Sumbawa regency,” said Arif Perdanakusumah. The three infrastructure projects were constructed by PTNNT in partnership with Sumbawa administration using PTNNT’s community development and empowerment funds. Sumbawa administration receives Rp70.4 billion or 20% of total funds worth Rp352.07 billion or US$38 million. The remaining 80% of the funds are allocated to West Nusa Tenggara province and West Sumbawa regency governments who receive Rp140.8 billion respectively.
The Mampis Rungan sports hall is located at Brang Biji administrative area of Sumbawa Besar and accommodates indoor sports, including badminton, volley ball, tennis court, and basket ball. The sports hall platform may accommodate 400 spectators with appropriate supporting facilities.
“We are currently constructing Sumbawa House of Reps. building worth Rp28.8 billion. The building is expected to complete by October 2011,” said Arif.
PTNNT operates Batu Hijau copper-gold mine since 2000 and has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Sumbawa administration on 11 May 2011 to resume exploration activities within its Contract of Work area in Sumbawa. In running its operation, PTNNT always demonstrates leadership in occupational safety, stewardship of the environment and social responsibility.*
