Mataram, Tambangnews.com – West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Governor Dr. TGH. Zainul Majdi MA accompanied by PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) Senior Manager External Relations Arif Perdanakusumah hands over the construction project of Medical Laboratory of University of Mataram (UNRAM) to Rector Prof. Dr. Sunarpi, Phd in Mataram, Wednesday (27/7).
Construction of the Rp2.92-bilion project was carried out in two phases: the first phase was on the 1st floor, which was handed over in August 2005, and the second for the 2nd floor, which commenced in February 2011. It is a joint-project between the NTB provincial government and PTNNT.
Arif Perdanakusumah thanked the provincial government for the good cooperation and partnership to date in the development of some government projects in NTB. “We are very pleased and thankful because UNRAM laboratory project that we had initiated together with the provincial government in two phases has been completed on time. The project can soon be used to facilitate lectures and practices for the Medical Faculty students at the university,” he said. The 2nd phase 750-m² building project has two research laboratory rooms, two classrooms, two practical rooms, one administration room, two bathrooms, warehouse, and car and motorcycle parking lot. Total building size is 2250 m².
Arif added that, in addition to UNRAM laboratory, other completed projects include development of seaweed cultivation equipment, facilitation of community’s role in completing 9-year basic education in 75 sub-districts, geopolitics mapping study in NTB, rehabilitation of social institutions, empowerment of around forest-area community with cow pattern and perpetual forest in three villages, construction of worship building-based economy, and development of integrated students learning.
According to Arif, the projects are part of PTNNT’s assistance project worth Rp352 billion to NTB province. PTNNT operates a copper-gold mine in Batu Hijau, West Sumbawa since 2000. PTNNT paid taxes and royalties to the government in the amount of Rp5.761 trillion in 2010. To date, PTNNT’s contribution to the government reaches Rp22.53 trillion.**
