PTNNT starts construction of Sekongkang police office |

West Sumbawa, Tambangnews.com – PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) started on Thursday (28/7) the construction of Sekongkang sub-district police office, marked by inaugural concrete foundry by Police Commissioner Martono from the Regional Supervisory Inspectorate (IRWASDA) of W. Nusa Tenggara (NTB) police, at Sekongkang sub-district of West Sumbawa Regency (KSB). It is PTNNT’s 3rd project for RI National Police, particularly for West Sumbawa regency police.
PTNNT Senior Manager External Relations Arif Perdanakusumah in his remarks said the project is a joint-project with NTB regional police chief and West Sumbawa regency police chief. “Besides, the project is a manifestation of the company’s commitment to community empowerment, in this case providing a sense of security to the community, especially Sekongkang people,” said Arif Perdanakusumah.
He further said that the 475m2-project will be conducted in two phases. The 1st phase will be carried out this year, while the 2nd phase will commence in 2012. During the 1st phase, we will work on 261m2 area, while the rest will be completed in 2012. “Construction of the project will be performed by a local contractor at cost of Rp900 million,” said Arif.
According to Arif, the development in Sekongkang and the southern part of Sumbawa will run rapidly in the future and give significant economic impacts. As such, the presence of Sekongkang police office is crucial, especially in providing a sense of security and ensuring that the development in southern part of West Sumbawa will run as planned by the regency administration. From the company’s perspectives, it will surely receive great benefits as Batu Hijau mine was named a National Vital Object in 1997.
“We hope that the facility will give optimum benefits. We should also thank the police for its support and cooperation to date. Hopefully the cooperation can be improved in the future,” said Arif.
Meantime, Police Commissioner Martono said currently the police lack facilities, such as police office. He therefore thanked PTNNT for its participation in granting support through construction of the Sekongkang police office. “It is a very significant participation for us the NTB police, especially West Sumbawa regency police. It is a implementation of people’s participation for the police. We the police should follow it up with actual steps by improving our protection, care and security efforts for the community,” said Martono.
“Upon completion and handover of the building later on, we will maintain and utilize the facility optimally for serving the community,” said Martono.
In addition to Sekongkang police office project, PTNNT has built two police facilities in the regency, Maluk police office and West Simbawa police boarding facility.***
