West Sumbawa, tambangnews.com.– PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara (PTNNT) paid an amount of Rp1.429.195.726.534 in Q3, 2010 to fulfill its financial obligations to the Government of Indonesia (GOI) in the form of taxes, non-taxes and royalties. The Q3, 2010 royalties’ payment of Rp87.5 billion in particular, higher than that in Q3, 2009 of Rp79 billion, has been made to the Finance Department on 30 October 2010.

”As a contractor to the GOI, we are at all times committed to fulfilling our financial obligations in a timely manner in accordance with the Contract of Work and other applicable regulations,” said  Arif Perdanakusumah, PTNNT Senior Manager External Relations 

The largest payment in this quarter includes  Corporate Income Tax (Article 25) in the amount of Rp984 billion, compared to Q3, 2009 of Rp576 billion, followed by Interest, Dividend, and Royalty payments (Article 26) of Rp103.5 billion, compared to Q3, 2009 of Rp9.3 billion. Other taxes (Articles 4, 5, 23) of Rp127 billion, compared to Q3, 2009 of Rp4.6 billion, and Personal Income Tax (Article 21) of Rp75.7 billion, compared to Q3, 2009 of Rp45 billion. 

Untill Q3, 2010 PTNNT has made payment of taxes and royalties to the state in amount of Rp4.3 trillion. In 2009,  PTNNT’s payment of taxes and royaties was in total of  Rp3.9 trillion. Thus, PTNNT has since 1999 paid Rp19.4 trillion of taxes and royalties to the state.

In addition to providing direct financial benefits to the government, PTNNT’s presence brings other economic benefits through salary payment to 7,000 employees and contractors, purchases of goods and services from local and national suppliers, and community development programs. 

PTNNT has been operating Batu Hijau copper and gold mine  in West Sumbawa since 2000, employing over 7,000 employees – mostly locals and NTB province residents.
