PTNNT’s employee cooperative Katala receives 2 National awards

West Sumbawa, Tambangnews.com. – PT Newmont Nusa Tenggara’s employee cooperative Katala has received two national awards i.e. National Cooperative With Achievement Award and Cooperative Award 2010. RI President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono personally presented the awards during the Cooperative Day commemoration held in Surabaya, Thursday (15/7).

“We PTNNT management and all employees are proud of this achievement. This will motivate us to continue our support for the development of Katala cooperative to improve employees’ welfare,” said Arif Perdanakusumah, PTNNT Senior Manager External Relations.

”Employees are the company’s most important asset whose welfare needs proper attention. This is consistent with our value, i.e. to demonstrate leadership in safety, stewardship of the environment and social responsibility,” said Arif.

Meantime, Katala Cooperative Chairman Gunawan Rayes said that the achievement is inseparable from the support of the cooperative’s members and executives. ”We will continue to develop businesses to meet increasing needs of our members,” said Gunawan Rayes.

Earlier, the cooperative had also received the Cooperative with Outstanding Achievement Award 2010 from the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara, the 3rd Best Rated Cooperative Award 2003 from RI Ministry of Cooperatives, and the Best Consumer Cooperative Award 2003 from the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara.

Katala cooperative was established in 1998 and currently has 2618 members. Up to June 2010, the cooperative’s asset reached IDR52.6 billion. Its business activities cover savings and loans, shops and golf course management.

PTNNT is currently owned by Nusa Tenggara Mining Corporation (56%), PT Pukuafu Indah (20%) and PT Multi PT Multi Daerah Bersaing (24%). PTNNT has been operating the Batu Hijau copper and gold mine in West Sumbawa since 2000. In 2009, PTNNT paid taxes and royalties to the government worth IDR3.9 trillion.*
